Passage: Acts 17: 19-34, John 14:15-21
Greetings Everyone: "The 24th of May is the Queen's birthday.  If we don't get a holiday we'll all run away."  I learned this school-yard doggerel (and many more important things) from the late Rev. Dr. John A. Johnston of MacNab church in Hamilton, my mentor and friend. Now I know that this year we will get a holiday on Monday, May 18th.  Will it be any different from all our other days of lockdown?  Perhaps we might remember the Good Queen, have our "at home children" draw and colour pictures of her; watch re-runs of Victoria on Netflix, Britflix or wherever else we watch our "flicks" (so called because of the flickering of early motion pictures). On the 24th of May last year we celebrated the 200th Anniversary of Victoria's birth by having a Victorian tea-party.  You might try that at home.  Enjoy the weekend.  Rejoice in the partial "opening" of businesses in Ontario.  At least our dogs can have a hair-cut!  I hope you find this week's worship service helpful and inspiring.  If you plan to watch it online, keep this printed service until then (or experience a strange sense of deja vu). WaitI think I made that joke before. May God bless and preserve you and all those you care for - until we "meet again" on Sunday May 24th.
Peace be with you, Duncan
